Holly Waterfield designer for The Brooklyn Home Company a d Scale is really important when it comes to your coffee table but I prefer to either over scale so your room is dedicated to seating around a large coffee table or create a central space by having a couple of small skinny coffee tables. That said it should always be shorter than your sofa width.
We`re partial to natural elements at The Brooklyn Home Company. Wood stone and marble always feel good next to softer upholstery.
Lester recommends combining two tables to achieve a nesting effect (if you have to get things piecemeal) that adds dimension to your space. She likes the sleek Danish-inspired look of the tabletop contrasted with the waxed black joinery (which in our opinion gives it a little more edge). Lester suggests pairing it with the higher cocktail table which can also be used as a side table.
