Shape comes down to personal preference but round or oval tables are good when you don`t have perfect symmetry in a room as it throws the eye. They are also good for curved sofas or shapely armchairs. Rectangular and square are most practical in social settings if you like to have drinks on the table. They are also easier to dress with accessories. Or go for something more sculptural—then it becomes the focal piece of the room.
Save on budget — and space — with this modular coffee-table set. Ashley Moore founder and principal designer of Moore House Interiors recommends this trio of tables two of which nest underneath the larger one; according to Moore these are great for pulling out when you are entertaining. She says the brass legs and mirrored top give the set a high-end look.
Grove recommends this simple barrel-style solid-oak table from CB2`s collaboration with GQ calling out it`s organic mid-century vibe. We like the way its heavy base anchors it to the space.
