Detroit Chop Shop Internships
The Detroit Chop Shop has two openings for unpaid internships in sound and in videography. These are three month internships that will begin in January 2011. The Detroit Chop Shop has had numerous interns go on to have thriving professional careers in the film and television industry. Some of our interns have gone on to work for A&E, E Network, CNN, TLC, Discovery; NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox; and Skywalker Sound. DCS operates out of Macomb, MI and is the worlds largest producer of sound effects for the motion picture, television, video game, and radio industry.
Gain experience in field recording, Foley recording, sound editing, and equipment knowledge. You’ll work side by side with Ric Viers, author of the Sound Effects Bible and owner of Blastwave FX (the leading HD sound effects publisher in the world), as he records and designs sound effects. We ask that you have some basic experience and understanding of sound recording. Must be proactive and not reactive, have a passion for sound recording, and the ability to work as an unpaid intern 40 hours a week for three months. DCS hours run 9-5, M-F. There may be a weekend here and there, but that is not the norm.
Gain experience in videography, editing, story editing, and anything else your heart desires. This is a great opportunity for someone that is looking to have creative control and build his/her reel. You’ll follow Ric Viers around documenting recording sessions and whatever else you and Ric think is cool. Then you’ll edit the final pieces for distribution on the web. We ask that you have some basic experience and understanding of videography. DCS produces videos for companies like Rode Microphones, Sony, Blastwave FX, and Sound Effects Bible all of the time. We have all of the equipment you’ll ever need to produce whatever you want. You’ll have creative control (within reason) and as we grow more confident in your abilities and character, you’ll be able to use DCS equipment free of charge for personal projects during your internship. Must be proactive and not reactive, have a passion for film making, and the ability to work as an unpaid intern 40 hours a week for three months. DCS hours run 9-5, M-F. Overall Basic Requirements:
- Have reliable transportation (Your parents giving you a ride is not reliable. Own a car that runs)
- Must be able to work in the United States
- Must be a high school graduate at the very least
- Not be on the FBI’s most wanted list
- Live in the area
These are not paid positions. Experience only.
