“Red Handle” Auditions for Short Student Film

We are casting for a short action pack drama called “Red Handle” written by Elizabeth Kauffman. Director Mike Ludema. This production is going through Compass College of Cinematic Arts. This short is volunteered based. Shooting dates are March 15, 16, 17.

Plot:

When two brothers in the secret service are pursued by enemy agents must fight to keep possession of a red handled briefcase that their authorities deem to be of utmost importance. But as the opposing forces close in, both brothers must come to grips with their own answer to the question: “Is duty worth the price of your own life?”

Available Roles:

  • Samuel Sheene: Male. Mid-20ʼs. A responsible and stoic type. Works undercover for the secret service. Working as a team with his brother Joseph, he keeps the both of them on track and out of trouble.
  • Joseph Sheene: Male. Early to mid 20ʼs. Also works undercover for the secret service as a team with his brother Samuel. He provides the braun and spontaneity of the team. He questions whether what they do is really worth it.
  • Agent 1: Male or Female. Late 20ʼs to mid 30ʼs. Works undercover for the other side. A firm and honorable leader for the agents under him.
  • Agent 2: Male or Female. Late 20ʼs to mid 30ʼs. Works undercover for the other side as Agent 1ʼs right hand man.
  • Agent 3: Male or Female. Late 20ʼs to mid 30ʼs. Works undercover for the other side. Follows up the business of Agent 1 and 2 to make sure their orders are carried out.
  • Agent 4-7: Male or Female. Between early 20ʻs to early 40ʻs. Agents working undercover for the other side.
  • Little Girl: Male or Female. 4 to 6 years old. A friendly girl out for a trip with her parents aboard the train. Carries a prized red balloon that her parents just bought her.
  • Waitress: Male or Female. Early to late 20ʼs. A pretty young woman working as a waitress in the train dining car.
  • Bartender: Male or Female. Middle aged. Works as a bartender on the train.
  • Security Guard: Male or Female. Late 20ʼs. A brave security guard on the train who confronts the attacking agents.
  • Man: Male or Female. Mid-20ʻs to mid 30ʼs. A man working undercover for the secret service. He passes the red handled briefcase off to Samuel and Joseph.
  • Porter: Middle aged. Works as a porter for the train.
  • Older Man (with camera): Mid-60ʼs to 80ʼs. A tourist riding the train with his wife.
  • Older Manʼs Wife: Mid-60ʼs to 80ʼs. Wife of the older man with the camera.
  • Mother: Mid-20ʼs to late 30ʼs. Mother of the little girl.
  • Father: Mid-20ʼs to late 30ʼs. Father of the little girl.
  • Elderly Man: Gets shot in the head by the agents.
  • Security Guard 2: Middle aged. Tries to get the agents to stop but is killed.
  • Extras: Passengers (10-20) – People at train station (5-10)

Compensation:

No pay. Travel expenses and accommodations will NOT be provided, but will receive good food on-set, great experience to put on your reel & resume. DVD’s will be given upon request.

“Begin the Beguine” Casting Call for Stylized Music Video

University of Michigan Museum of Art Casting

University of Michigan Museum of Art is seeking two actors for a stylized music video to be shot in the beginning of March, 2013 in Ann Arbor. Improvisation skills and the ability to exaggerate while sustaining a sense of believability is required. Must be able to take direction, express physically without words, and maintain a sense of humor. This short film is for the non-profit art museum and will be on permanent exhibit both inside the museum and online on their website. Shooting will take a total of 8 hours maximum.

Plot:

A shackled young woman sees through the eyes of a bird puppet a stylized parlor scene of awkward dancers, who attempt to dance to swing dance music while making intense eye contact with each other. Shots will be inter-cut with a music video of big band-style musicians performing the song.

Available Roles:

  • Woman: Mid 20’s-40’s. Voluptuous, sexy , spends her time stealing war veteran’s money after pleasing them with her body.
  • Man: Mid 30’s-50’s. War veteran, rugged, has a stump leg, fatigued from the war but full of sexual desire.

Compensation:

There is no monetary compensation for this project, however travel costs will be covered and food provided if needed.

“Hacked” Casting Call for Upcoming Production

Bowling Green State University (BGSU) Department of Theater & Film is casting for its upcoming short film “Hacked”, written and directed by Professor Daniel E. Williams. The production will take place in and around the Toledo area. Shooting is scheduled for March 6-10, 2013.

Synopsis:

Hacked tells the story of Adrian Carmichael, a black man in his thirties and a successful executive at a burgeoning technology firm, whose life completely unravels when he finds himself on the FBI’s Most Wanted list for terrorism.

Available Roles:

  • Actors: Male and female, ages 18 or older. We are casting all rolls and all types. No experience is necessary.

Compensation:

This is a volunteer production, talent will receive credit.

Casting actors for the dark comedy short film, “Tooth Nerves”. Auditions for these roles will be held at Compass College of Cinematic Arts in Grand Rapids. Actors must be available on March 7th, 8th, and 9th of 2013 for shooting and open for communication between now and then.

Plot:

Tooth Nerves is a short film, dark comedy about a man who is afraid to go to the dentist but must due to a very bad toothache, that may lead to oral cancer.

Available Roles:

  • Phillip: a man in his early to late twenties with medium build. He is the average manly guy with a good sense of humor who has never had any true fears except for the dreaded dentist.
  • Rodger: a man in his early to late twenties with a husky build. He is the close friend of Phillip who cares about his well-being and pushes him to do the right thing.
  • Dentist George: in his mid to late fifties with a stocky build. He is the mastermind of the terror and pain that floods the dreams of Phil’s past and present. Must be able to portray a double personality of “good” and “bad” dentists.
  • Dentist #2: in their twenties or thirties, evil assistant to Dentist #1.
  • Dentist #3: in their twenties or thirties, evil assistant to Dentist #1.
  • Darla: Mid to late twenties, a bubbly yet slightly creepy receptionist.
  • Young Girl: Ages three to seven, a patient of the dentist, seen once as scary example of what happens, seen again as an exceptional example of good dentistry.
  • Mother of Girl: Thirties to forties in age, mother to young girl (above).

Compensation:

Compensation will not be monetary, but there will be fun on set as well as food and a DVD copy of the completed film (travel expenses will not be paid, must provide own transportation).

Casting Athletic Male for UMMA Short Film

Casting a male actor for a short film called “Boy” that will be shown as part of the University of Michigan Museum of Art Many Voices Video Project. The shoot date will be Friday, February 1, 2013 in the early morning/afternoon.

Plot:

The video will feature one male character performing athletic movements (throwing, catching, running, jumping). There will be an emphasis on muscles in arms and legs as up close shots will communicate to viewers the theme: young male energy.

Casting actors and actresses for the short film, “Working Slippers”. Shooting is scheduled for March 22, 2013 – March 24, 2013.

Synopsis:

Howard, a working man in his 30’s, has been trying to advance himself at the office and finally he has the opportunity to give a big presentation to the company’s board tomorrow. However, when his Department Manager, Steve, pulls Howard from this presentation and passes it off to Karl, a suave new co-worker, what could have been Howard’s big break is gone. On the day of the meeting everything goes wrong for Howard and, quite accidentally, he wears his beloved slippers to work! When ill-prepared Karl bungles the presentation, Howard steps up to save him but Howard’s slippers are the last straw for Steve! Howard has to make the decision to walk away from his job. But before Howard can leave, the Vice President, joins this quirky rebellion and offers a newly opened management position to Howard, fulfilling his wish to move forward in the company, on one condition: the slippers must stay!

  • Howard: (Lead) Male, Mid-Late 30’s. A man with a great love for his slippers, but who hasn’t been able to move ahead in the office for years. Could stepping up and standing out change that for Howard?
  • Steve: (Lead Supporting) Male, 30-40’s. With an overbearing personality, what better way to carry out your will except through using the company’s obscure and possibly outdated standards? Steve’s a pro.
  • Karl: (Supporting) Male, Early-Mid 20’s. A fresh from university with an MBA, Karl’s very suave but can’t handle tongue twisters.
  • Intern Amy: (Small Supporting) Female, Early-Mid 20’s. Just trying to survive this internship so she can graduate. Her dry humor helps.
  • Vice President: (Small Supporting) Male, 40-50’s. Hardened businessman who recognized that quirks, like a passion for rubik’s cubes, can make or break the creative bank for his company.

Plot:

Bill, a thirty-year-old white-collar worker, is at his weekly therapy sessions when he is told that he needs to stay calm at stressful moments. He is told that if he doesn’t see the good in everything that his high-blood pressure will be to much on him and could kill him. Bill starts his next average full day living by a criteria on a line that he was given to help stay calm and relaxed, however Bill starts his first day completely corrupt being his worst ever! Available Roles: Lead Bill-(INVOLVES LOTS OF MOVEMENT AND SOME STUNT WORK) Male, Late 20’s Mid 30’s. A klutzy man who lives his average life always striving for the best. He has to live completely optimistic due to his severe high-blood.

Available Roles:

  • Boss: Male, mid 40’s, has been working with Bill since the start of his career at a cubical business office. Is very stubborn stuck up for himself.
  • Bills Girlfriend Alaina: Female, mid 20’s through 30’s, is a dishonest girlfriend with Bill and but knows him inside out. She is caught making love to someone else. (NO NUDITY)
  • Therapist: Either or Male/Female, 40’s up range, this character is very wise and persuasive with his/her clients.
  • Cheater: Male, 25’s-30s, is caught making love to Bills girlfriend, Alaina, and plays it cool yet scared of what Bill is going to do to him. (NO NUDITY)

  • Little Girl: Ages 6-12, Hands a balloon to Bill.
  • Homeless Man: Age 30-60, Is on the streets dressed very poor and is given money.
  • Young Couple: Female and a Male in there 20’s, who hand money to homeless man.
  • Pedestrians: Wide range of age, walking along the road.
  • Old Lady: 60+ an elder lady who is helped being cross an intersection.
  • Young Man: 20s, helps elder lady cross the street.
  • Thief: 20-30’s, steals Bill’s bike.
  • Father and Son: Father, 20’s+ Son, 8-12, kids bike get hits by Bill’s car, Father gets very upset over it and attacks Bill.

Compensation:

These are not paid roles, however craft services will be provided during all three of the shoot days and a DVD.

Auditions are being held for Student Film “Ballet of Time” in Grand Rapids, MI. Shooting is scheduled for March 11th, 12th, 13th (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday).

Synopsis:

Jenna was an exceptional ballet dancer, but when she had a terrible accident on stage, the damage was irrevocable. It ended her future in what she loved the most. Now Jenna is older and the ballet studio where she spent so much time, blood, sweat, and tears dancing is being torn down. Jenna must decide to move on with her life or let the past cripple her for the rest of her life.

“The Last Hitler” Casting Call for Short Film

Casting actors for the non-union short film, “The Last Hitler”. Auditions will be held at Compass College at Cinematic Arts (41 Sheldon Blvd) from 5:00pm to 10:00pm on January 28 and 29 and February 1. Shooting is scheduled for March 4th, 5th and 6th in Grand Rapids, MI.

Synopsis:

Two Neo-Nazis trying to collect all of Hitler’s paintings from before he was a dictator find the location of the last one online, owned by an old German man who says it was passed down to him by his father. The two of them go over to the old man’s house to try and persuade the man to sell them the painting. After much bickering and negotiating, the man agrees to sell them the painting for a relatively cheap price. He tells them the painting is in his storage unit about an hour up north, so they take the train up to the unit. Once there, the German man betrays them and knocks them both out, and reveals to them he is actually a rogue Jewish agent who has been hunting down Germans for 25 years. He executes the two (one by gunshot, the other by dogs), walks out of the storage unit taking the money with him.

Available Roles:

  • Jeff: male, early 20’s to early 30’s. Younger man, lean and fit. He’s the brains of the operations and runs the show. He needs to be able to be a smooth talker and act in control
  • Cyrus: male, early 20’s to early 30’s. Younger man, a bit more burly and built. He’s the brawn of the operations and needs to look intimidating and tough.
  • Schwindler: male, late 50’s to early 70’s. The older man, mentor type figure. Would be good to have a slight German accent, fit for his age.
  • Cult Leader
  • Neo-Nazi One
  • Neo-Nazi Two

Compensation:

There will NOT be any pay, or compensations for travel. There will be crafty for all three days of shooting. Cast will be well fed. The shooting will be very fun, we’re all laid back and easy to get along with, prepare for some good laughs. Cast will receive a DVD copy of the film.
