Suite 160 Digital Studios presents:

Once Upon a Time Screenplay Competition

Logline: The “Once Upon a Time Screenplay Competition” is designed to give undiscovered screenwriters exposure and a chance to have your work produced and showcased. You might even get the chance to join our team as a staff writer! This is a short-film competition, all entries must be no less than five-minutes and no more than fifteen minutes screen time.

Deadline: March 31, 2010
Entry Fee: $15
All entrants must be residents of the State of Michigan.
Submissions must be in one of the following genres: Drama, Comedy, Romance, or Thriller

Awards:

Grand Prize: Awarded to the screenplay deemed to be the overall best by the competition judges. The Grand Prize winner will receive an option and purchase agreement for the winning screenplay in the amount of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00 USD). The winning screenplay will be produced by Suite 160 Digital Studios and submitted to festivals and film competitions at the discretion of Suite 160 Digital Studios.

1st Runner Up: There will be one 1st Runner Up awarded to the screenplay deemed to be the 1st runner-up to the Grand Prize by the competition judges. Suite 160 Digital Studios may produce this screenplay. The 1st Runner Up award comes with an option and purchase agreement for Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($250.00) prize.

2nd Runner Up: There will be one 2nd Runner Up awarded to the screenplay deemed to be the 2nd runner-up to the Grand Prize by the competition judges. Suite 160 Digital Studios may produce this screenplay. The 2nd Runner Up award comes with an option and purchase agreement for One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) prize.

Reality Show seeking a well experienced Camera Assistant to support HDX-900 camera operators in Detroit Metro Area. We are also looking for field sound mixers who can boom and mix for shoot in Detroit Metro area. Mixers must own their own gear. Package should be equal or similar to 4 wireless lavs, 4 channel mixer, boom, wireless hops, and comteks.

Small, low-budget, horror movie shooting in Detroit and Northern Michigan in May is looking for a gaffer, grip and script supervisor for a 21-day shoot. Candidate must have have prior experience, though student filmmakers with a good working understanding of the job will be considered.

No or low pay based on experience but a great opportunity to get IMDB credit on a full feature and to gain additional real-world experience. Candidate must be able to meet with director and D.P. on Wednesday, Mar 10 at noon.

S3 Entertainment Group Short Script Competition (Ferndale, MI)

Attention Screenplay & Script Writers!

Have a great short script that you are looking to have made into a movie? Well now is your chance to have that dream come true.

S3 Entertainment group has announced its first ever statewide short script competition.

S3 is looking to create 100% Michigan-made projects. The competition requires entered screenplay length to be no more than 20 pages and the deadline to send in scripts is Wednesday, March 10th, 2010. Entered scripts will be judged by three guest film industry critics on originality of ideas, structure, talent with creating dialogue, character development, and the use of a Michigan-based storyline.

Take your script to the big screen

The winning script will be announced on Wednesday, March 17th with production of the short-film beginning the following week in the newly opened S3 Studios in Madison Heights, Mich. The winning film will also be shown at the first annual “S3 Entertainment Film Festival” to take place in early spring.

S3 is looking for the best and brightest writers in Michigan to enter their short scripts to help them pursue their goal of making a short film. All scripts should be sent to screenplay@s3eg.com in .doc format.

Need Treehouse for U of M Student Filming Project (Lansing, MI)

Treehouse Scene

I am a producer on a short student film at the University of Michigan and we are in need of a treehouse to film at. It needs to has four walls (not just a platform) but does not need to be extravagant by any means. It will just be a one day shoot for a flashback scene.

You will be thanked in the credits and the film will be shown at the University of Michigan Lightworks Festival AND the Traverse City Film Festival.

“Sucker” Costumer for Feature Film (Pontiac, MI)

Costume Designer for Michigan Film

Sucker, a feature film shooting in Pontiac, is looking for a full time Costumer. Costumer would work with the Costume Designer during prep and take over the wardrobe department once shooting commences on March 17th. Experience in film or theatre costuming is preferred, and knowledge of a working film set is a plus. Work would entail keeping track of the actors’ costumes day by day, being on set to monitor costume continuity, gathering costumes at wrap, and cleaning certain items.

Shooting is set to begin on March 17th, and wrap on April 21st. There are five six-day weeks- Costumer should have a car, and would need to be available every day of shooting. The position pays a small flat rate, and a stipend for gas may be available.

Attention Local Michigan Filmmakers

Kalamazoo Multimedia seeks ambitious local filmmakers to participate in the 2010 Kalamazoo Extreme Video Smackdown, Michigan’s largest extreme sport and stunt film festival.The region’s most talented skaters and videographers will battle it out on the big screen Thursday, April 1, 2010 at the Kalamazoo 10 Cinema in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

The festival will showcase sports ranging from skateboarding to snowboarding to bmx biking, and will also feature prank, stunt, and band videos. Guest will enjoy live music between each screening. Audience members determine the winner of the grand prize. Be part of the smackdown by sending a DVD to the address listed below by March 10, 2010. Films should be a maximum of ten minutes in length.

Waterfront Film Festival is now accepting entries for our 2010 Screenplay Competition. As the contest grows, the stakes are getting raised. This year we are offering:

* a $100.00 cash prize for first place, along with an all access pass to the festival, lodging, and prizes from our sponsors
* Meetings with industry guests to pitch, network and get advice
* An exclusive industry party will be held at the festival in honor of the 1st place winner
