Kalamazoo Casting Call for “Atrophy” Film

Atrophy is an upcoming Sci-Fi Action Adventure film by Imminent Entertainment. It is scheduled to film in July 2010 in Michigan.

Open auditions for “Atrophy” will be held on Saturday, March 27th from 11am – 6pm at the Holiday Inn West located at 2747 South 11th Street Kalamazoo, MI 49009. (http://www.holidayinnkz.com/)

We are casting a variety of roles. Applicants are encouraged to bring a headshot or recent photo. Martial arts or stage fighting experience is also a plus but is not required.

After casting is complete, rehearsals will be held April – June. Filming will begin in July and is slated to run through August or September.

Detroit Independent Filmmaker Casting

Looking for a actor who can portray a Caucasian teenage boy within the age range of 15-18 who is athletic and confident. The young man is charming and has a great smile. However, his charm is quite deceptive when he turns on a teenage girl.

The film is the continuation of a short film by Detroit Independent Filmmaker Kim Rice.We will be shooting within the next two months to wrap the film up. This is an unpaid gig, but rather a great opportunity to build an actor’s reel and gain experience in the field.

Non-Union Film Casting Call

The Phoenix Armageddon Film Casting

The Phoenix Armageddon is a CG animated, Independent, Sci-Fi drama intended for film festival submission. All roles are non-union, and unpaid. However, actors cast for the film will receive valuable experience and national exposure if the film makes final selections. Further compensation will be discussed with those who are cast.

Actors of all types are encouraged to audition. If you do not meet the set description of a certain character, you are urged to still audition for that role if you feel you could accurately portray the given character. As this is an animated film, physical appearance will not be much of a factor in final casting.

Actors Must Prepare a Monologue

We ask you prepare a thirty second monologue to showcase your abilities. A short script will also be provided. Auditions are not open to the public, so you must call or e-mail for the location and to reserve a time slot.

Seeking actors for the upcoming independent short film One Last Call; a thriller drama about two men who find them self on a one-way road to death, and there is no turning back.

Casting Call for “Detroit Unleaded”

GAS AFTERHOURS LLC, an award wining production company, is seeking Arab American Actors for the upcoming independent feature film Detroit Unleaded; a comedic drama about two Arab-American cousins that own a gas station fueled by the energy, music, and life of a predominantly African-American neighborhood on Detroit’s eastside.

The shoot is scheduled for June/July 2010 in Detroit, Michigan. The script has garnered recognition as an official selection to the Sundance Institute’s Jordan Screenwriters Lab (2007) and as a finalist at the Tribeca Film Festival’s All Access Program (2009).

 We are seeking Arab and Arab-American Actors with a wide range of acting experience and individuals/non-actors with a strong desire to perform- all are encouraged to audition. “The Wars of Other Men” Casting Call for War Movie (Royal Oak, MI)

TO BE FILMED IN DETROIT – “The Wars of Other Men”

Paradise Valley Media is gearing up for its latest production — “The Wars of Other Men,” a short, alternate history war film set in a World War I-like time period — and we’d like to welcome the film community to participate in auditions.

This is the latest short by the production team behind “The Message,” “A Little Knowledge,” “The Cemetery Precincts,” and “InZer0.” It is scheduled to shoot in Detroit over two weekends (4/30-5/2 and 5/7-5/9). It will be directed by Mike Zawacki.

AUDITION

DATES & TIMES:
Saturday, February 27, 2010 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Sunday, February 28, 2010 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Wednesday, March 3, 2010 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.

Auditions will be scheduled by the hour. Each actor will receive approximately 6 minutes of audition time. Exact times will be provided when approved for audition. Please include a day and time preference in your e-mail.

BREAKDOWNS:

Soldiers
- Lieutenant (male, 30s+, leading role, speaking role) A loyal commander and good soldier, but weary of war. Actor will be asked to smoke cigarettes on camera. Role requires wielding a rifle and pistol. Actor must knife a guard in the throat.
- Corporal McCrae (male, 20s+, speaking role) Lt.’s right hand man, sense of humor, opens dying soldier’s coat to find bloody wound.
- Private Kirkpatrick (male, 18+, speaking role) dies in tunnel from gas (convulsions, thrashing, frothing at the mouth may be required). Actor must not be allergic to latex for special effects makeup.
- Private Eiger (male, 20s+, speaking role) Unsure, nervous, seeks the guidance of his more experienced comrades.
- Private Cavanaugh (female, 20s-30s, speaking role) A tough, capable soldier who is always ready to take orders. Shoots a rifle on camera sniper-style.

Soldiers will wear masks and full battle gear, carry prop rifles, run through battle worn streets and buildings, and take up sniper positions atop a Detroit rooftop. Actors may be asked to get a haircut for role.

High Ranking Officers
- Captain John Dougherty (male, 40s+, speaking role) Matter-of-fact leader. His view of warfare is emotionless and very black and white.
- Lieutenant Colonel Genevieve Farben (female, 30s+, speaking role) Tough, ruthless military intelligence officer, very little regard for the lives of others – she wants to win the war no matter the cost.

The Enemy
- Dr. Adam Weishaupt (male, 40s+) A cold, amoral scientist who is responsible for manufacturing the Fog. He is shot in the chest. Blood effects will be required for this role. Actor must not be allergic to latex for special effects makeup.
- Guard (male, 20s+) A guard in the Fog factory that takes a knife in the throat. Role may require blood effects and special effects makeup. Actor must not be allergic to latex for special effects makeup.
- 3 Soldiers (male/female, 20s+) Run through battle scene, shoot at soldiers, set up Fog beacons, etc.

Supporting Roles
- Dying Soldier (male, 20s+, non-speaking role) Wounded, unconscious, beyond hope of survival. Role will require blood effects and special effects makeup. Actor must not be hairy, or be willing to shave chest hair to accommodate makeup. Actor must not be allergic to latex for special effects makeup.
- Woman (female, 20s+, non-speaking role) A caring person who tries to help an injured soldier. She is shot by the soldiers who mistake her for the enemy. Wardrobe – dingy gray dress or similar dingy clothing. Role may require blood effects. Actor must not be allergic to latex for special effects makeup.
- Zeppelin pilot (male/female, 20s+) Operates spotter scope, shot in front of green screen.

Featured Extras
- Older Couple (male and female, 50s+) A soldier’s parents, needed for a picture that the Dying Soldier carries with him in battle.

Synopsis:

In an alternate earth not unlike our own 1920s, a great world war has raged for decades across continents and through cities. The balance of power changed when the enemy invented a terrifying new chemical weapon – the Fog. A lieutenant on the opposing side, serving an army on the verge of defeat, is sent on a mission to capture the scientist responsible for manufacturing the Fog — at the expense of his platoon who loyally follow him without knowing they are the sacrificial lambs in the mission. Will the lieutenant follow his orders or save his men?

“Last Act” Casting Soldiers for Short Film (Grand Rapids, MI)

Grand Rapids Casting Calls

Film Title: Last Act

Story: When a unit of soldiers become trapped inside a church by and enemy sniper one soldier breaks the tension of war with his music. Forever changing everyone’s lives.

We are casting men from the ages of 18 to 40 to play six roles in our short film. They are as follows:

Roles

Oskar: Is a medic fighting for a resistance group. Although he must be a medic to survive his true passion is music. Specifically the piano. Oskar can range from the age of 18-23. We are looking for an actor who has a background as a pianist who can perform the piece of music that we need to be performed. If you can not play the piano but would like to audition for this role please audition because we would love to see what you can do.

Wounded Commander: Although he becomes incapacitated very early in the story, the wounded commander is a very important role non the less. He starts off leading the unit until he is shot by the enemy sniper and Elijah is promoted into his position. Age Range: 25-40.

Elijah: Is a veterane military soldier and is shortly promoted to the leader of Oskars unit. Before the one world government absolved his country into the republic he served as a Major First Class. After the Republic took power he decided to fight for his individual freedoms as a rebel fighter. He has been fighting this war for eight years now. Age Range: 25-35.

Jacob: Also has music in his heart and was studying the violin at a prestigious fine arts academy. After his near capture by the Republic, Jacob teamed up with Talin and they have fought side by side for three years. Jacob has not seen his family since the night the Republic came and arrested them inside their home. Age range: 18-25.

Talin: Is a master violinist although he hasn’t played in almost five years. He was forced to sell his instrument before it lost all value on the market to buy bread for his wife and child. His fight started in this war when his wife and child were forced into a work camp. He doesn’t know if they are still alive. Age Range: 23-26

Enemy Sniper: The man with no name. He is a shadow. Well trained and deadly in his profession. He was shaped and molded into a perfect soldier by the Republic to do one thing and one thing only. Kill the enemy. Not until Oskar plays his somber music does the sniper remember that he is human and everyone around him is human. Age Range: 18-25.

We will be holding auditions for these roles on Friday, February 26, 2010 from the hours of 5pm to 7pm at Compass Film Academy.
