“Neon Prairie” Auditions for WSU Student Film

Casting Actors and Extras for Short Film

Looking for serious, dedicated actors for an upcoming short film made by Wayne State University students. Entitled “Neon Prairie”, the story is about a young girl struggling with drugs who reconnects with her grandma after learning she is refusing treatment for cancer. By fixing up her grandma’s old bike, she discovers more than she bargained for.

Audition Details:

Wednesday, October 10 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm

Available Roles:

  • Shelly: A high school student, petite, (preferably) brunette, rebellious attitude.
  • Nana: Age late 50s – early 70s. Petite, sweet, charming nature, the ideal grandmother
  • Diana: Age 30-45, suburban mother, smoker
  • Scott: Black or blonde hair, angsty teenager, “up to no good”
  • Mr. Felton: Muscular, very athletic, stern, age 30s-40s. (2-3 lines)
  • Karl: Age 30-45. Brown hair, mustache, quiet nature (2-3 lines)
  • Extras: Shopkeeper, bike race announcer, and bike race committee member, and participants for a bike race. If you’re interested in being an extra and you also have a bike, let us know!

Compensation:

These are not paid roles. We’re students on a limited budget trying to get the best final product. However, we do intend to submit the our film to various festivals and we will provide food and beverages.

How to Apply:

If you are interested in applying, just attend the audition on October 10th. Please bring headshots and resumes with you, if you have them.
