Greenfield Village Auditions for Actors and Singers – Henry Ford Campus

Greenfield Village Audition Details:

  • Spring shows run May 3-June 11 (Rehearsals begin in April.)
  • Summer shows run June 19–August 22 (Rehearsals begin in May.)
  • Performers MUST be at least 18 by June 7.
  • Rehearsals are paid ($10.00 per hour).
  • Actors and singers will be paid $90 per day for performances.
  • Average performance day is 10:30 a.m–4:00 p.m. (Plus four Saturday evenings for Simply Broadway and Greenfield Singers.)
  • All performances are outdoors in Greenfield Village. (Except for Simply Broadway, which is inside Town Hall.)

Audition Dates:

Monday, February 22, 2010 ~ 3pm to 8pm
Tuesday, February 23, 2009 ~ 3pm to 8pm

Auditions will take place in the Anderson Theater located at 20900 Oakwood Boulevard in Dearborn, Michigan, inside Henry Ford Museum. Please enter through the IMAX Theatre doors, then go down main corridor to the Anderson Theater on your left.

Please note that these are the ONLY audition dates – we are unable to add alternate dates for anyone who cannot attend one of these two days.

Female Character Casting

Specific ages given are ages the actor can realistically play.  Age ranges given are open and flexible within that range.

  • Tally (25-55, African American) in Tally’s Tales at Susquehanna
    (MUST SING ALSO) (spring)
  • Woman (25-55, African American) in How I Got Over at Susquehanna (MUST SING ALSO) (summer)
  • Eva & Hazel (25-45) in Simply Broadway at Town Hall
    (MUST SING ALSO) (summer)
  • Three singers (20-40) for The Greenfield Singers
    (summer)

Male Character Casting

Specific ages given are ages the actor can realistically play.  Age ranges given are open and flexible within that range.

  • Orville (32, Caucasian) and Wilbur (36, Caucasian) Wright in Home from Kitty Hawk at Wright Home (spring & summer)
  • Thomas Edison (32, Caucasian) in Edison’s Light Fantastic at Menlo Park (spring & summer)
  • Man (25-55, African American) in How I Got Over at Susquehanna (summer)
  • Leonard & Eugene (25-45) in Simply Broadway at Town Hall (MUST SING ALSO) (summer)
  • Three singers (20-40) for The Greenfield Singers (summer)

Audition Requirements:

  • Please bring a résumé and headshot.
  • Please prepare a monologue (one minute MAX!) from an American drama, comedy, or musical in which you play a very natural, likeable, and engaging character. No dialects, please.
  • Singers: please also prepare a song (one minute MAX!) written between 1890 and 1950. Accompanist will be at the auditions (please bring sheet music in your key), but it is fine for singers to bring a CD or their own accompanist if they choose. No a cappella.
  • Appointments are strongly encouraged to minimize your waiting time, but walk-ins are welcome – just be advised that your wait may be longer if we have to book you between existing appointments.
