“From The Back of a Horse Fly” Auditions for GVSU Thesis Film

Casting Call for Actors

Auditions are being held for a Grand Valley State University thesis short film, “From The Back of a Horse Fly”. Production takes place in Mid March.


A doctor and his assistants conduct medical tests for a new sleeping medication. What the patients do not realize is while they are under, the team ends their lives temporarily and then revives them in order to uncover the truth behind death.

Audition Details:

Thursday, February 23rd from 5:00pm to 8:00pm

Saturday February 25th from 11:00am to 3:00pm

Grand Valley State University Pew Campus
Devos Room 202E
Grand Rapids, MI

Available Roles:

  • Ellen: Female (20s): Leading role. A med student called in to assist the procedure. Is also working under cover.
  • Dr. Mann: Male (30s – 50s): Leading role. A renegade doctor working off the grid. Is also in the beginning stages of a terminal illness.
  • Pickett: Male (30s – 50s): Supporting role. The test patient who has developed a craving for the “medication” being tested on him.


These are not paid roles. On site craft service and meals provided
