Detroit Casting Call for Latino Actors/Non-Actors (Backpack Project)

The Backpack Project (The First CollabFeature)

Now seeking Latino actors and non-actors for a prominent scene in a collaborative feature film made by 25 directors in 14 different countries. Detroit-based award winning filmmaker Marty Shea and Brazilian filmmaker Rafael Yoshida will co-direct the segment in Detroit in early May. They have a range of speaking and non-speaking roles for men, women, teenagers and children. Applicants of Brazilian descent or who speak some Portuguese are a plus. No acting experience necessary for minor roles.

Available Roles:

  • Grandmother: (Elderly or Middle Aged, must have acting experience) speaks Brazilian Portuguese.
  • Young Woman: (Teenageer to Middle-Age) speaks Brazilian Portuguese.
  • Vicente: (Latino man in his twenties to fiftes). Long hair is a plus.
  • Latino Boy or Girl: (aged 8-18)
  • Extras: Various ages and types.


Deferred payment for lead roles plus travel/lodging. All participants will receive meals, copy of the film and invitation to the local premiere.
