Pontiac Gets a Movie Studio!

It’s a great day for Michigan’s film industry. Raleigh Michigan Studios is holding a groundbreaking ceremony today to celebrate the start of the new Pontiac $80 million full-service studio. The studio is expected to be completed by early 2011 and bring 3,000 jobs over the next few years. With a studio of this caliber opening, this could be exactly what Michigan needs to take our state’s film and tv markets to the next level.

    It’s looking more and more like the only jobs going to the people of Michigan will be minimum wage laborers. Raleigh will probably not hire anyone in production or post-production positions, as it is looking like this will be a “turn key” studio, where they rent the space out to Hollywood film makers, who then bring thier own crews in to work. Such a scam and such a shame.
