The East Lansing Film Festival (ELFF) is the largest and most diverse film festival in Michigan to screen independent and foreign feature, documentary, short and student films. ELFF was established in 1997 with cooperation from both the City of East Lansing and Michigan State University and is dedicated to bringing quality foreign and independent films to the state of Michigan.
The 12th annual East Lansing Film Festival will take place March 19th through 26th, 2009. On March 26th, the Lake Michigan Film Competition (LMFC) will be held and awards cash to the filmmakers whose film was at least one quarter filmed, produced, or financed in the states that border Lake Michigan — Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin. Categories for the awards include: Feature, Documentary, Short Film and Student Film. The Message Makers Most Promising Student Award, a prize package worth $10,000, will be presented at the end of the competition.
